The Foundation of Our Practice

stonehenge.jpg

Michael Cozart grew up in a multi-generational construction family and has been around job sites, builders, and design teams his whole life. That background shaped how he works today: clear drawings, smart details, and decisions that hold up in the real world. He’s collaborated with builders, architects, and engineers on projects across Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona.

In 2013, Michael started his practice to deliver accurate, buildable construction documents—and Salida Plan Studio has grown from there into a design-led studio focused on high-performance homes in Colorado’s mountain climate. His work blends clean, thoughtful design with building science, with an emphasis on comfort, durability, and long-term value.

Michael is a professional member of the American Institute of Building Design and an Associate Member of the American Institute of Architects. When he’s not working, he’s usually outside—hiking, camping, or fishing around Chaffee County with his wife and two daughters.
